We Want to Be a Blessing!

We as a church community are seeking to be a blessing by focusing especially on the opportunities God gives us in our everyday lives. To be able to see the impact God can allow us to have, we as a community are looking for three area’s to try bless us others. Prayer, service, and sharing.

Below is a description of each and a form to fill out to help us track how many moments of blessing we have so we can celebrate the impact. Our goal is to track from now till Easter just how much of a blessing we can be!

Pray

We have all had that moment where someone has shared something big or heavy with us and gut reaction response is to say “I’ll be praying for you.” If we were honest we probably more often than not forget to pray for them or if we do, we don’t really tell them we still are. What if we began to ask people in the moment of their share if we could pray wit them right there? How impactful could that be? How much of a blessing would that be?

Serve

Everyday we are given opportunities to serve others whether it be through our actions, sacrifice, or presence. What if the next time we saw that meal train for the new parents we signed up? What if the next time we new that their was a widow spouses birthday was coming up, we bought them flowers or went to spend time with them? What if when that neighbor who is working extra shifts doesn’t have time to mow, we asked if we could? There is an old sharing, people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care. In blessing people people through serving and giving we get a chance to share God’s love with them in tangible ways, which sometimes opens up hearts in the way words never could.

Share

Everyone of us has a beautiful and unique story! One of the gifts of our stories are the way that they can help others either through encouragement, challenge, or calling. Also if we are a follower of Jesus, our story tells the Gospel of Jesus in it. So what if the next time someone was going through a challenging time, we offered to share some of our story and the story of Jesus and how He helped us through. The impact of opening up to someone else, could lead them to open up to Jesus, maybe even for the first time.

FAQ’s

Why are We doing this?

We believe that as Jesus followers we are called to be a blessing and in particular share the Good New’s of Jesus Christ and we believe the Bless model is a great way tp do that.

What is the bless model?

Developed by Pastors and brothers Jon and Dave Ferguson, Bless is an acronym for Begin with Prayer, Listen with Love, Eat with Intention, Serve with Care, and Share your Story. This model is to help Jesus followers share Jesus with people in their everyday life. If you are interested in the book they wrote called bless, click here.

Why are we “tracking” Things?

We don’t have a desire to pat ourselves on our backs or be a church that is drive by numbers. We are tracking because we want to see what kind of impact might be possible in and through our church when we are intentional and serious about spreading the Good News of Jesus. We want to see in this time frame how many times we pray with someone, how many times we serve others, and how many times we get to share our story and the Gospel story.

Do I count my serving or giving here at church?

While we deeply value and desire for you to be involved in those ways here at South Creek, the goal of operation bless is to be focused on ministry outside the walls of our church, so for tracking purposes, no don’t record those please!

Do we have to do this?

Nobody is going to force you to do anything with operation bless, but we would love all who call South Creek home to join in because we know their is strength in numbers and we know that it will take all of us to make lasting impact.
