Rooted Explained
What is “Rooted?”
Rooted is a journey we are inviting our church family to join in for a 90-day period to help us intentionally grow in our relationship with Christ and grow in community as a church. We believe that God is calling our church to grow in deeper ways that will take intentionality, sacrifice, and unity.
Why 90 days?
There is a rule called “The 21/90 Rule.” The 21/90 Rule states that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make it a permanent lifestyle change. We know to experience the growth that God wants for us as individuals, families, and a church body, we want to make lifestyle changes that reflect the transformation of Jesus in our lives.

What is the 90-Day Giving Challenge?
We believe that God is clear in scripture that He is a generous God. He calls us, His children, to reflect that, so we are inviting everyone to put God to the test in His provision by taking the 90-day Giving Challenge and seeing how He provides. For some, this could mean beginning to start regular giving to our church mission. For others, this might mean taking the step of faith to make an increase in their regular giving. For many, it might mean targeting a certain amount to give during or at the end of the 90 days. Do I need to give a 10% tithe? While the idea of a 10% tithe is a great concept, we find primarily in the Old Testament that we don’t find Jesus commanding this explicitly. He does, however, call His followers to live and give generously, and He calls the Church, His bride, to support the work of the church. This means that 10% giving can be a great place to start or shoot for, but we believe Jesus really just wants us to do something, and do it constantly, that reflects that we trust Him and join in His work.
Is there any vision or larger goals for “Rooted?”
We really want to be able to live out our mission more effectively of loving people and leading them to new life in Christ, and we know we can only truly accomplish this by having a greater commitment from all our church to do this. Additionally, as a church who is all about the next generation, we want to be in a good position and be good stewards as we look to increase our staffing, in particular, for student ministry. We are really close to being in a good and wise place to make this hire, and we believe we might even have the right person, so we are praying that through “Rooted,” we will be able to say, “Yes, we can do this!”
What is the official time frame?
We will have our “Commitment Sunday” on May 15th where everyone will fill out two identical commitment cards--one to turn in and one to keep as a reminder. The 90 days will begin that day and run to August 13th. Obviously, you can join in the commitment any time before or after these dates, but the goal will be to make lifestyle changes as followers of Jesus in hope that these habits and practices carry over into the future as well.
